Put your coat on, we're going shopping You can even sit on Santa's knee! We'll have eggnog and hit the mall So many stores we'll have to shop them all... *It's Christmas* Come on baby, your parents are waiting I can even smell the turkey from here! We'll eat until we can't bend over Let's hope the fridge can hold all of the the 'left overs'... Chorus And when you're stringing those Candy Canes - (someone is sleeping in the rain) And when you're dreaming of Sugar Plums - (someone is praying a saviour comes) And when you're opening up your gifts (someone didn't even get a Christmas wish) Come on girl, we gotta pack the car up! Will we even have room for everything that we got? We'll regift some, then throw some away.. The fun was opening them up anyway... *It's Christmas* Chorus And when you're stringing those Candy Canes - (someone is sleeping in the rain) And when you're dreaming of Sugar Plums - (someone is praying a saviour comes) And when you're opening up your gifts (someone didn't even get a Christmas wish) That's when the man on the street started praying It's when he saw the lights from the Church Christmas Eve... We better hurry, the Church play is beginning What a cute little manger up there on the stage! Ugh! Who let this man in!? He's really filthy! He's gonna ruin it for all the little kiddies... *It's Christmas* So let's start stringing those Candy Canes! Let's start dreaming of sugar plums! Let's start opening up the gifts! It's Christmas... ©2013 Richard Cummins

You were having second thoughts on life, so you ran into the night You were caught but you did not steal, so you just turned out the light You were always looking after somebody else's "ever after" It's a wonderful life - and how can that be? When your heart has been hurt, you're down in the dirt and they've just trimmed the tree? It's a wonderful life - and how is that clear? When they say that you owe everything that you own, and it's that time of year You had doubted different things before, but now you're really torn Maybe everyone is better off, if you never had been born? You were always looking after somebody else's "ever after" It's a wonderful life - and how is that real? When some live in castles and some live and die, in Potter's Field. It's a wonderful life - and how can that be? When your heart has been hurt, you're down in the dirt and they've just trimmed the tree? God Send - send down help for my friend Heaven help - Heaven help my friend It's a wonderful life - can you hear the bells ring? And God's giving visions when men leap from bridges and Angels get wings... It's a wonderful life... ©2013 Richard Cummins

Snow starts falling, Friends start calling Hats and Coats try to keep out the cold People shopping 'Till they're dropping Trees and stores lined with silver and gold Wrapping paper, by the roll Rolling out like sacred scrolls And pretty Ribbons, tie loose ends make sure I've spent as much as my friends! Traffic backs up Behind the mail truck He's got a stop at every house on the street Snowy Days Frosty Nights Kids want to know what grown up Egg Nog tastes like And trees once lost to the dark of night Blaze like Angels wrapped in heavens light... ...And if I try I can still remember A lowly stable on a cold December (Strings) People shopping 'Till they're dropping Coats and Hats try to keep out the cold ...And if I try I can still remember A lowly stable on a cold December ...And if I try I can still remember A lowly stable on a cold December ©2013 Richard Cummins

Let It Snow sung to Let It Be

about

An alternative look at Christmas with the twist in the story in 'Dreaming Of Sugar Plums' - a contrast of 2 kinds of emptiness... from the shopping mall to the back alley.

A musical treatment of 'It's A Wonderful Life', with the story told in indie pop, indie rock fashion and takes the same narrative from failure to a new understanding of hope.

Another look at Christmas in the malls and on the streets, and a whisper of the past and it's meaning.

There may be a few old Christmas demo recordings thrown in as a surprise in the download.. we'll see

Any generous giving on the purchase of this album goes straight to my street ministry, feeding and clothing those less fortunate.
Merry Christmas!

about

Richard Cummins Agassiz, British Columbia

Richard Cummins first sang with his Mother on a home made tape when he was roughly 3 years old, in tune. She, having grown up on 50's rockabilly and country icons like Loretta Lynn, taught Richard the guitar at an early age. But it was upon his discovery of the Beatles that made Richard obsess over music, learning guitar, bass, piano & drums and writing boxes full of songs. ... more
